Review Requests

Thanks so much for considering Thrifted Pages for your book review requests! I know how much heart and effort goes into creating a story, and I’m honored you’d think of me to share it with my readers and help spread the word.
I’m always on the hunt for my next favorite read—whether it’s a hauntingly good horror novel, a swoon-worthy romance, or a piece of literary fiction that lingers long after the last page. If your book feels like it might fit into the cozy, bookish world I’ve created here, I’d love to hear from you.
Before you send over a request, let’s make sure we’re on the same page (pun intended). Below, you’ll find everything you need to know about the genres I review, the formats I accept, and how I share my thoughts.
Let’s chat and see if we can make some bookish magic happen!
What I Love To Read
- Horror that’s creepy, atmospheric, and sticks with me long after I’ve turned the last page.
Favorite reads: anything by Stephen Graham Jones, How To Sell A Haunted House by Grady Hendrix, The Hacienda and Vampires of El Norte by Isabel Cañas, and T. Kingfisher’s What Moves the Dead.
- Speculative fiction that challenges reality and sparks my imagination.
Favorite reads: The Wayward Children series by Seanan McGuire, When Women Were Dragons and The Crane Husband by Kelly Barnhill, The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman, and Chain-Gang All Stars by Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah.
- Stories that center queer voices and embrace the spectrum of joy, struggle, and self-discovery.
Favorite reads: Zami: A New Spelling of My Name by Audre Lorde, Stone Butch Blues by Leslie Feinberg, Camp Damascus and Bury Your Gays by Chuck Tingle, Young Mungo by Douglas Stuart, and the Bright Falls series by Ashley Herring Blake.
- Romance that’s swoony, sweet, or a little (or a lot!) steamy.
Favorite reads: Everything I’ve read by Ali Hazelwood, You Made a Fool of Death with Your Beauty by Akwaeke Emezi, and Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez,
- Literary fiction that paints rich, multi-dimensional characters I can’t forget.
Favorite reads: Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng, The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt, Open Water by Caleb Azumah Nelson, White Oleander by Janet Fitch, and The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison.
Formats I Love To Review
- Physical copies (these are my fave – who doesn’t love book mail?)
- Digital copies (ePub or Mobi)
- ARC’s
I’m happy to accept review copies from both big publishers, indie authors, and eBook publishers. Whether you’re a well-known publisher or a self-published author, if your book aligns with my reading preferences, I’d love to consider your review requests. Just keep in mind, accepting your book doesn’t guarantee a review—it all depends on whether it’s the right fit for me and my audience. I strive to make sure every review I share resonates with readers, so if it’s not quite the right match, I’ll be sure to let you know.
Where I’ll Share My Thoughts
If I review your book, here’s where you’ll find my thoughts:
- Right here on Thrifted Pages
- Goodreads (because who doesn’t love a good TBR list?)
- NetGalley (if applicable)
I’ll always share an honest review—celebrating what works and offering constructive feedback where needed.
Timing Your Review Requests
Life on the farm (and with five kids!) can get a little wild, so I can’t promise a specific review date unless we’ve agreed on one ahead of time. If you’re working on a timeline (like a book launch), try to reach out at least 4-6 weeks in advance.
A Few Notes
- I always let folks know if a book was gifted or sponsored—it’s just good manners (and FTC rules).
- Sending me your book doesn’t guarantee a glowing review, but it does guarantee I’ll give it the time and thought it deserves.
